Dr Richard Connolly director of the Centre for Russian, European and Eurasian Studies (CREES) and senior lecturer in political economy at the University of Birmingham. His research and teaching are principally concerned with the political economy of Russia.
He is also an associate fellow on the Russia and Eurasia programme at Chatham House, visiting professor at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration in Moscow, and editor of the academic journal, Post-Communist Economies.
Dr Connolly has acted as a consultant to a wide range of non-academic organisations, including the government ministries in the UK, US, and other European countries, the International Trade Committee of the European Parliament, and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), as well as private sector companies from across the world.
He is the author of Russia’s Response to Sanctions, published by Cambridge University Press in 2018.
